Joymily
Privacy Policy & Terms of Service
Last updated: 15 September 2026
Joymily (“we”, “our”, or “us”) is committed to protecting your privacy. This page explains how we collect, use, and safeguard information when you use our family coordination app. It is designed around GDPR principles. It is not a formal compliance statement, and legal review is required before production use.
Privacy Policy
Joymily helps households turn school notes, messages and photos into a shared, checked plan. We store only what we need to run that service.
1. Information we collect
Account information
- Email address (required to log in with a magic link, and for Google sign-in if that is enabled)
- Display name and role in the household
- Optional profile details you add for a member
Family data
- Household name, locale, time zone and optional family photo
- Member relationships and roles, including child profiles managed by adults
- Who is assigned to events and tasks
Content you create
- Events, tasks, comments and pinned family notes
- Chat history and recent activity in the household
- Sources you upload or paste (school notes, PDFs, screenshots) and the extracted drafts you confirm
- Appearance preferences such as theme
Processing and integrations
- AI extraction: source text or an image description may be sent to a server-side AI provider (for example OpenAI) when you consent
- Email delivery: login links, family invitations, guest links and family lists are sent through our mail provider
- Optional Google sign-in: Google receives the data needed to authenticate you
- Calendar export: you can download or subscribe to an ICS calendar of household events
- Push, SMS and paid notification providers are designed in the product but are not connected until you enable them
2. How we use your information
- Provide, maintain and improve the Joymily service
- Show each member what they need to see, and keep a shared household plan
- Extract events and tasks from sources you submit, only after you confirm changes
- Send login, invitation and share emails, and other notifications if you enable them later
- Let you export a list, a printable picture, a calendar file, or an email
- Enable collaboration between members of the household you create or join
3. Data sharing
- We do not sell your personal data
- Household data is visible to members of that household, according to their role
- Guest or share links show only the event, task or view you chose to share
- AI providers process source content you submit for extraction; we ask them not to use it for training
- Mail and, if enabled, Google authentication providers process the data needed to log you in
- In demo mode, the family stays in this browser unless you save it to a connected household database
4. Data security
We aim to protect your data with practical, industry-standard measures:
- Login uses a short-lived email link rather than a stored password
- Traffic is served over HTTPS/TLS in production
- Uploaded sources can be deleted automatically after you confirm extraction
- There are no advertising trackers
5. Your rights
You have the right to:
- Access and export your household data (JSON and calendar)
- Delete individual sources
- Delete the household and associated data from Settings
- Delete your account: open Settings and choose “Leave the family” (or “Delete household and data” if you're the only member). Your account and data are then deleted. If you can't log in, email support@joymily.org and we'll delete them for you.
- Revoke share links
- Leave or switch how you use the household, including demo data stored only in this browser
6. Calendar export and sharing
- You can export events as an ICS file for Google Calendar, Outlook or Apple Calendar
- A calendar feed link, if you use one, only includes household calendar data
- Share links can be replaced or revoked at any time
- Joymily does not currently offer two-way Google Calendar sync
7. Children’s privacy
Joymily lets adults add child members so the family can plan school, activities and tasks.
- Child profiles are created and managed by adults in the household
- A child account only sees what their role is allowed to see
- Adults can change or remove a child’s membership at any time
8. Data retention
We retain data while the household is active. When you delete a household or a source:
- Your household snapshot, including chat history and theme, is removed from this app and from the connected database if one is in use
- Your login account (email and password) is deleted when you leave the family or delete the household, unless the email still belongs to another family
- Source files can be deleted after confirmed extraction, which is the default
- Share tokens and login tokens are revoked when you replace them or delete the household
- AI providers may keep transient processing logs according to their own policies
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will note changes by updating the “Last updated” date at the top of this page.
Terms of Service
By accessing or using Joymily, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.
1. Acceptance of terms
By accessing or using Joymily, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the service.
2. Description of service
Joymily is a family coordination app that helps households capture school and activity information, check it, and share who does what. The service is provided “as is” and may be updated or modified at any time. It is not a general chatbot, and not a replacement for every family calendar.
3. User accounts
You must provide an accurate email address to log in. You are responsible for access to that inbox and for activity in households you administer. Notify us if you believe someone has used your login link without permission.
4. Households
A household is a shared space where members can see the family plan according to their role. You are responsible for content you add. Sharing an invite or a guest link gives others access to what you shared. You can leave or delete a household according to your permissions in Settings.
5. Acceptable use
You agree not to use the service for illegal purposes; upload malicious content or attempt to compromise the service; harass, abuse or harm others; access another household’s data without authorisation; or use automated systems to access the service without permission.
6. Third-party services
Joymily may use email delivery, optional Google sign-in, and AI extraction providers. Your use of those services is also subject to their terms and privacy policies. Demo mode can run without sending family content off the device.
7. Intellectual property
The Joymily service, including its design, features and branding, is owned by us. You retain ownership of the content you create, and you grant us a licence to store and display it as needed to provide the service.
8. Disclaimer of warranties
The service is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee that it will be uninterrupted, error-free or completely secure.
9. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages arising from your use of the service.
10. Termination
We may suspend or terminate access if you violate these terms. You may delete the household and local demo data at any time in Settings.
11. Changes to terms
We may modify these Terms of Service at any time. Continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance of the new terms.
